Each year, Gateway Pet Guardians chooses honorees to spotlight at the annual Soiree for Strays Gala.  We look deeply at our volunteers and supporters and choose the person/family/organization that has extraordinarily helped us over the year (or more) make the biggest impact we could.  We have four categories of honorees that we feel best summarize those people that support us so passionately: Volunteer(s) of the Year, Foster(s) of the Year, Humanitarian of the Year and Philanthropist of the Year.

These amazing contributors will be honored through a video at the annual Soiree for Strays Gala taking place on Friday, November 11 2016 at the Luminary on Cherokee.   They will also be invited to participate throughout 2017 in a variety of other Gateway Pet Guardians’ events. Tickets are $40 in advance (www.gatewaypets.com/gala) or $45 at the door.  Tickets include hor d’oeuvres, beer, wine, live entertainment and silent art auction inspired by our rescue work.

Without further ado, please help us in congratulating this year’s honorees:

Volunteers of the Year: GPG Program & Committee Leads

Fosters of the Year: Sarah and Brian Meyer

Humanitarian of the Year: Julia Mittelstadt

Philanthropist of the Year: Syberg Family

This post will spotlight our PHILANTHROPIST of the Year!

PHILANTHROPIST OF THE YEAR… THE SYBERG FAMILY

Syberg Family

Syberg Family

Who doesn’t know and LOVE the Syberg family!?!? NO ONE!  The Syberg’s are one of the great families in St. Louis.  They have been bringing delicious food and philanthropy to our city for decades!  They are willing to do everything from donate gift cards to host events to organizations all over the metro area.  With restaurants on both sides of the river, Syberg’s wings and seafood are a staple for our area!

Two and half years ago, Maddison Syberg walked into GPG and has been a tremendous asset every since.  Maddie is a zookeeper at the St. Louis Zoo and has brought her love and experience to the shelter.  Maddie is currently a foster mom and the Enrichment Coordinator at our Emergency Shelter.

In 2014, we lost our venue for one of large fundraisers, Pasta for Pets.  Maddie’s father, Kirk Syberg offered to take the reigns and let us host our event at their O’Fallon, IL location.  Since then, we have raised over $10,000 for our rescued pets!  Kirk and his family have also sponsored other events and projects for GPG.  They are also a sponsor of the New Year for Strays Trivia Night (coming up January 7, 2017)!

The Syberg family philanthropy doesn’t start or stop with Gateway Pet Guardians.  The entire Syberg family (for many generations) have supported important causes in St. Louis including St. Baldrick’s.

With the support of the Syberg Family, Gateway Pet Guardians is able to save the lives of hundreds of animals each year.  We can’t thank them enough for being an important pillar in our community!
