Foster Spotlight: It’s Your Time to Shine, Michelle and Garrett Allen! This week we want to recognize Michelle and Garrett Allen for their commitment to GPG. They got involved with GPG when their neighbor, Amanda Raya, got them involved. Amanda is a feral dog extraordinaire. They had always wanted to get involved with an organization like GPG. After Amanda told them about all the great things GPG does, they were sold.

Michelle and Garrett have been with GPG for less than a year and have temp fostered a dog. We all know how important it is to have temp homes for dogs while their more permanent placement gets worked out. They love sweet adult dogs because it’s just so much easier to not have to to potty train them. They also love to give them lots of love and attention since they might not get adopted as quickly as puppies.

Michelle and Garrett’s most memorable moment was seeing Bobo’s (temp foster) face the first time. He got free reign of the house and got to run around freely in the backyard. They got to see him act like a family dog for the first time and enjoyed watching him lounge on the big couch. They advise new foster parents not to hesitate and to just jump right in. You already have great instincts as a pet owner and with that, you can do almost anything!

Michelle and Garrett also have a two-year-old playful Great Dane named Ellie in their home. They live in South City in a house with a great yard for personal and foster dogs alike to enjoy. They love to run and workout with Ellie by their side. Michelle works for Washington University doing neurocritical care research out of the Neuro ICU at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Garrett works for BJC as a business strategic planner for the health system. Michelle plays soccer on Thursdays and her husband uses his free time to work on his MBA at Washington University. If they have any free time left, you can find them at Cardinals games and totting through the city. They enjoy hitting up any bar with a patio that accepts dogs. Thank you, Michelle and Garrett, for that all you do!
