On October 5th, Gateway Pet Guardians honored its volunteers, fosters and shelter staff by hosting an appreciation event and chili cookoff at Executive Director Jamie Case’s house.
All volunteers and fosters were welcome and everyone had the option of bringing their own special chili recipe for voting. Guests were treated to a back yard viewing of the Gateway Pet Guardians documentary – an intimate look at the founder of our organization, P.J. Hightower, and her daily adventures feeding the strays in East St. louis.
This video includes interviews of each of our honorees who attended the appreciation event including Tara Kenny, Outstanding Achievement Award winner, Stacey Kaemmerer, Foster of the Year, and Tim Buchek, Volunteer of the Year. Hillside Animal Hospital was also recognized as our Philanthropist of the Year.
