Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House Back to School Celebration
On Saturday, the Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House hosted a back to school celebration for residents in the Metro East. The event was hosted at their facility at 1045 State Street in East St. Louis. There were plenty of activities on-site, including live entertainment, a gaming truck, horseback rides, tennis, basketball, and bounce houses. The organization invited several partners from the community to the event to spread awareness about the free services they provide, including Gateway Pet Guardians.
Volunteers set up at our booth and spread the word about our free spay/neuter services, upcoming vaccination clinic at Jones Park, and several other resources we can supply to pet parents in need. We had six families sign up on site for spay/neuter services, and are excited to help them fix their pets!
Other free services residents could access on site included dental screenings and lunch. The Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House handed out 200+ backpacks filled with school supplies, and raffled off additional supplies, including laptops and other devices.
We are so thankful to be able to partner with organizations like the Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House. Their mission is to empower individuals and families to move out of poverty and achieve self-sufficiency through programming and services. At Gateway Pet Guardians, our Community Outreach Program also strives to empower families, by providing resources for family pets. By empowering pet owners and providing access to veterinary services and supplies, we can help keep family pets out of area shelters and in their loving homes.
