Meet Checkers, an adoptable dog in St. Louis! Checkers is a 7 year old black and white English Setter mix with a lovable personality. At around 40 lbs., this medium-sized mister has all the signs of a mature and well-mannered boy. He’s good with cats and dogs, as well as children and adults. He has the kind of open and loving personality that would melt the hardest of hearts.
Checkers loves to cuddle and tends to enjoy more low energy souls who are relatively mellow like himself. Truth be told, his favorite pastime is actually lying on the couch or in bed and being loved on. It’s true! This gentle and calm soul is a lover not a fighter. When he is ready to have fun he enjoys playing outside with others. He’s looking for a home with a big fenced-in backyard where he can run and play – the white picket fence that every dog dreams of.
He’s a quick learner who is currently learning to walk on a leash. His foster family reports he is making great strides in his training and would make a great running partner in the near future. Not a runner? That’s ok! He also enjoys going for walks around the neighborhood or taking a stroll through the park. This little guy is sweet, charming, and patient above everything else. There’s not much he wouldn’t do for the right family.
Checkers is neutered, up to date with his shots, house trained, and would make the perfect couch buddy or running partner. He’s had a few interested suitors, but is still holding out for that family who will be his perfect match. How could anyone resist this face? His smaller stature make him a great fit for someone with a smaller home or yard. Since Checkers is so well-mannered he could also be a good fit for someone older who is looking for a mature companion.
