For several months, a timid little puppy cowered in the brush outside a small house in the Metro East. The family that lived in the house had four dogs, and the puppy took solace in spending time with the pack. She slept in their doghouses, and shared their food. But the family knew this was no life for a puppy. So they asked Gateway Pet Guardians for help.

Bear

The puppy, now about four months old, was scared of people, making rescue difficult. The family worked with GPG to set up a trap on their property, and on Thursday, February 23, it was the puppy’s lucky day! She went into the trap, leaving her lonely life behind and becoming part of the Gateway Pet Guardians family. She was named Bear, and is headed to her foster home, where she will decompress and learn what it’s like to live life as a companion animal.

Bear

Bear is lucky, but there are many other animals like her that need rescue, and we can only do it with the help of our network of foster families. This is where you can help! Learn more about fostering by visiting www.gatewaypets.com/foster, and join our foster family today.
