Recent high school graduate Catalina Cuevas is one such person. With a busy school and social life, she made time to foster adorable little Mr. McScrufferPants. And thanks to her sacrifice, this sweet pup has a bright future.
In fact, it is because of Catalina’s busy life that Scruffy thrives. Catalina participates in track, and loves watching baseball games and other sporting events. And Scruffy tags right along with her! It’s not uncommon to see him hanging out at the water cooler, or sitting on the sidelines with her friends. According to Catalina, “He loves people. I take him to many sporting events and he sits with me and watches the game. He knows he is the star of the game and goes up to each person for a pat on the head. People love him because he is just the sweetest dog.” Scruffy has even taken on the role of ‘nurse’ for Catalina’s sports team. “When he knows a part of my body hurts, he gives me kisses knowing they heal everything!”
Scruffy is very affectionate and snuggly. He loves helping people start their days off on the right foot by spreading love. Catalina says, “When he wakes up in the morning and I open my door, he goes to every person in the house to give them a good morning kiss!” Not only does he love his people, but he’s also known to play and snuggle with Catalina’s cat.
Catalina adores Scruffy, but she knows she’s only a temporary stop on Scruffy’s journey to happiness. “The most difficult part about fostering is that I can’t keep him forever and let him know how much he means to me. If it was up to me, I would adopt him, but I am going to college in Chicago and can’t have a dog in my dorm.” Instead, Catalina will stop at nothing to find that perfect home for Scruffy, where he can assume all his favorite roles: the official morning greeter, school nurse, and his new owner’s #1 fan.
