Adam & Eve

Adam & Eve are East St. Louis Residents.  And Pj is thinking they need a change of scenery!  Our recent “couples” on the street include Tony & Elsa (who were both just rescued), Dodger & Rambler, and Adam & Eve.  Pj is just waiting for room at the shelter to open or a foster, so GPG can work on getting these kids.  They are really warming up to her & I think they know…

Gateway Pet Gazette

2012: October/November Edition

My husband and I had reservations about adopting a shelter dog – really more so him, than me. In my opinion, shelter dogs often have a stigma against them. They’re overly aggressive, wild, difficult to train – you know, they’ve lived on the streets or have been surrendered by owners and that means that something has to be wrong with them.

Pj’s Radius

Pj’s boy, Radius.  Radius used to be super quiet, until we rescued one of his friends.  After that, he insists on talking and trying to tell Pj to bring him home!  Pj adores this pup, as she does all handsome men, and she is just plotting ways to rescue him.  Okay, he wouldn’t be too hard to rescue but we must get a foster home for this guy!

Halloween is about to roll around the corner and I can’t be more excited. It’s my favorite holiday.  While I’m a cat owner and my beloved furballs would sooner claw my eyeballs out or smother me in my sleep than tolerate parading around in a Halloween costume… they can’t stop their momma from dreaming.  Here’s a few of the greatest pet Halloween…

By Allison Arthur, GPG Blogger/Volunteer

As you may know, September was Puppy Mill Awareness month. While Gateway Pet Guardians focuses on educating the public about inhumane treatment of animals full-time, we spent the last month emphasizing the horrors of puppy mills and how you can help improve the lives of thousands of animals trapped in them. In case you missed our discussions on t…

6 Tips for Exercising with Your Dog

By Allison Ubriaco, GPG Blogger/Volunteer

A few months ago, I was sitting on my deck, lost in thought about my exercise rut, when I realized my frenchie, Ruby, had been outside for 20 minutes and hadn’t done a single lap around the backyard in her usual crazy way. After a few days of careful observation and realizing she wasn’t running nearly as much as she had in previous months,…
